Celebrating the Africanness of swing dancing
As part of the Euro-Africa Biennial in Montpellier from October 9 to 15, 2023, and in continuity with the action undertaken in 2021 on the occasion of the Africa France Summit (Off Program), the Swinging Montpellier festival is pleased to propose a project centered on the Africanity of Jazz dances. Three events will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2023:
A time for discussion around a lecture by Marie N’Diaye, followed by a discussion with participants,
A time for dance in the form of an educational jam workshop,
A time for social dancing with a Block Party.

Dancer, choreographer and researcher in dance anthropology and ethnochoreology, Marie N’diaye focuses her practice and research on jazz dances: their complex, hybrid African roots and their contemporary expressions.
