Bianca and Nils Masterclass Lindy Hop Festival Swinging Montpellier 2025

Sunny Side Trio

How about a trip back to the golden age of swing, when jazz standards were hummed on street corners and the pulsating rhythms set dance floors alight? The three musicians and singers of the Sunny Side trio give their voices to this program with their own unique blend of class and wit. Energetic and lively, their performances are a veritable bundle of good cheer!

The musicians

Margot Almi is a Paris-based double bassist-bassist-composer-singer. Always passionate about music, she left it all behind at the age of 26 to become a professional bassist and join the Montpellier reggae/rock steady Les Steadies, in which she also acts as backing and lead vocalist. Deeply moved by the musical universe of trumpeter Roy Hargrove, she partially traded in her electric bass for a double bass to learn a jazz repertoire she particularly liked, before joining the Sunny Side trio in 2024.

Émilie Ayer is a singer-songwriter based in the Occitanie region of France. A vocalist with the On Weather Signs quartet and the Artefact trio, she took her place behind the drum kit when she joined the Sunny Side trio in 2024. Passionate about vocal jazz, swing and improvisation, she draws her inspiration from the great interpreters of the genre (Ella Fitgerald, Bobby Mc Ferrin…) as well as from the instrumental jazz of Coltrane, Bill Evans and the contemporary and creative repertoire of Tatiana Parra, Vardan Ovsepian, Leïla Martial and Anne Pacéo.

Estelle Vidal is a pianist-composer-singer-double bass player based in Montpellier. Originally from Agde, Estelle grew up in a musical family and has been playing the piano since she was very young. With a classical training, she discovered a rich and abundant jazz scene when she arrived in Montpellier, and decided to devote herself to this music. It was then that she joined the Rose Betty Klub on keyboards in 2020. Pianist, double bass player and singer in the Sunny Side trio since 2024, she also performs with the Celtic music group “Off the Boat” on double bass.
