Angela Andrew (Lindy Hop)
Angela Andrew is a Lindy Hop dancer, choreographer, and blogger living in London, UK. Born and raised in London’s East End, she is very proud of it! She even created her own hashtag: #OriginalHackneyHipster!
She is delighted to be part of the Chisenhale Dance Space artistic community, which supports her current project ‘Radical Integration’, a work on the legacy and transmission of dance through DNA, with the participation of Othella Dallas.
Her first dance experiences date back to the first generation of hip-hop dancers. As a young musician, she enjoyed playing various instruments. At the same time, she studied social pedagogy. In 1991, she discovered Lindy Hop.
For over 30 years, she has been teaching and performing at dance and music festivals worldwide. However, true to her calling as a community leader, she regularly participates in local events, street parties, etc.
In May 2014, she experienced a career highlight by performing at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. During this period, she also served as a mentor to the Hodi dance company, as part of their exchange between Harlem and Brooklyn.
